A Day Out: Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum

This weekend we had a great day out at the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum. The museum features works of Noah Purifoy (1917–2004), an assemblage sculpture artist who worked in LA and Joshua Tree, California. Recently, LACMA has displayed some of the sculptures as part of a retrospective which brought interest to this body of work (this article by KCET is an interesting read if you want to learn more).

A Day Out: Salton Sea + Bombay Beach Photography | Ekaterina Orlovie

A few weeks ago, we went out for a weekend camping trip to the Salton Sea. Jeremy and I wanted to visit this place for a long time since we both like photographing urban decay. A Day Out: Tehachapi, CA

A couple weeks ago, we traveled to Tehachapi to visit our friend Chris. Tehachapi has all the charm of a small town with boutique shops, movie theaters, and even a downtown historic walking tour. For me personally, the gem of this place is really the Tehachapi Depot Museum. It’s free to visit and houses various railroad artifacts, including a model of the Tehachapi loop. The depot has a somewhat colorful history (even burning down at one point, only to be rebuilt) which we learned about on the free tour. After the tour, we stopped by the Triassic Vineyards for a wine tasting and a gorgeous sunset. We will definitely be visiting again soon!
