Please join me tomorrow at RCC Community Gardens Spring Show! I’m so excited about this art show and I’ll have the 4 above illustrations on display (minus the bones). The theme of the show is local inspiration and there will be a variety of artists and works represented. I’ll be posting updates on Instagram during the show as well. After that, I’ll be an art vendor at Saturation Fest in Riverside on the 28th. See you then!
This weekend we had a great day out at the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum. The museum features works of Noah Purifoy (1917–2004), an assemblage sculpture artist who worked in LA and Joshua Tree, California. Recently, LACMA has displayed some of the sculptures as part of a retrospective which brought interest to this body of work (this article by KCET is an interesting read if you want to learn more).
New print release! If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen this announcement already but just in case – the Headphones Girl print is now available in the shop! The prints look amazing and I’m so happy to see how the colors turned out. With watercolors, you never know what’ll happen. Sometimes they look washed out, or don’t scan in right, or you didn’t get the colors right and need to start over – the sky is the limit for mistakes. You can see how it all came together in this video.
Let me know what you think of this new illustration in the comments and have a happy Easter weekend!
