5 Current Art Supply Favorites

Art favorites are very hard to nail down, because really ALL my art tools are my favorites. Who can forget the eraser, that unsung hero! Sorry, I’ve been watching too much Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and my speech patterns only just adapting to modern English again. I hope you find these helpful or if you want, share what you’ve been liking – I’m always looking for new art supplies to try (and fall in love with!).

Thanks for reading! If you want to see what else I’ve been up to, check out the August Art Walk video or add me on Snapchat.

#TBT: Reflections

So this week was super busy to the max – completed the new Doom and Bloom series, made prints, put them up for the art walk, started an Etsy store, and updated my portfolio. Many cups of tea consumed and much of Netflix watched. But now I can finally relax (haha, just kidding, next art walk is in November!) and kind of reflect a bit. I was actually thinking about how difficult it is to show the best side of your art or illustration in a portfolio. Why shouldn’t I include all those amazing sketches or Critical Role fan art? It’s so hard! You just have to be ruthless – here’s a good write up on how to get started if you’re in the same boat. I removed one project that was dear to my heart and I wanted to share it here.

Barter is a short animation inspired by Russian folk tales of Fire-bird and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden). The individual elements were done by hand and animated, I want to say I used Photoshop for the final animation. I really liked the drawing part and the environment, the whole process made me appreciate animators so much. Thank you for taking this walk down memory lane with me!

Getting Ready for the August Art Walk

Hello August! I’m so excited to be getting ready for my second (ever!) art walk. The first art walk seems like ages ago and the next one is only 20 days away! The video above is a quick look of my new works – I can’t get enough of drawing flowers, can you tell? Let me know what you think!

If you’d like to see how I ink my drawings, check out the Quick Life Update + Art Speed Inking video.
